It’s time to say “farewell” (and for some “good riddance!”) to 2021. Winter has “officially” arrived with the sun in the sign of Capricorn.
Shortcuts: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces
We are now tasked to focus on grounding, production and detail finishing at the end of the year. This earth sign is driven by success and respect for tradition. It’s the time of year when we not only focus on completion, but also on how we desire to design the architecture of our lives for the new year ahead.
Venus really has something to say over the next few weeks. The planet of love, beauty, and the senses began its retrograde on December 19 (ending January 29), so the L-word is in the air, although perhaps intense and a little confusing. Each of us may be dealing with old relationship issues that we thought we had ironed out or old flames may even suddenly reappear and then just as quickly fade away. Be open to something real, but don’t bet the farm this month in a Vegas-style blitzkrieg. Just be ready for the lessons it brings.
(*Note: When reading your monthly horoscope, it is always a good idea to read not only your “SunSign” but also your “Ascendant” – called your “rising sign”.)
Capricorn: Dec. 22-Jan. 19
Capricorns, you are the bridge between the outgoing and the incoming. At the end of the month of the sea goat, your inner and outer personal relationships should clarify and improve your personal nature as a whole. Here is your dilemma for the next 30 days: you need to step up your game with a partner (or the pursuit of one) and at the same time take on a more observational role with work and performance, at least until the 17th, then start shifting into high gear with career goals. You are passionate and an unwavering initiator, but remember to be gentle with those around you, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. Be playful.
Aquarius: January 20-February. 18
Forward-looking Aquarius, “May the odds always be in your favor”, this one’s for you. You should be able to take all the old lemons you’ve been working with and turn them into lemon flavored mixed drinks with plenty of spunk for all your friends. But don’t get too punchy and inflated by how much luck you might receive this month; ‘keep your feet on the ground’. Make sure you don’t let things get bad with an existing stable partner, unless of course your freedom and personal freedom are at stake. Just as Capricorn ends and Aquarius begins on the 21st, you may need to being detached from an unexpected outing, a trip or even a little wild adventure.
Pisces: February 19-March 20
If you hear a voice telling you to check social media for an unloved item on the digital market, sue homeless animal shelters for the next pet, or sign up for a dating app (if single… or maybe not); stop what you’re doing right now and do it. Trust your instincts now, especially if you’re coming off an even more confusing year. Remember that your connection to the unknown is your “superhero superpower”! You can’t bring home that new heirloom, long-term pet, or even next future companion, but there is something to assimilate into this process. Remember you were born to swim!
Aries: March 21-April 19
This year may have a recurring and common theme for you, that you may be taking too much initiative and taking too much for granted. Where others may be on romantic adventures, you may need to slow your pace and find some patience, which is not a usual Arian virtue. Not that you’ll listen to this advice because you probably think that you and you only knows what is best for you. There may be additional tension around you, especially until mid-January. You may even want to take a longer vacation. Whatever you choose to do, do it with compassion for the “other self” in the equation.
My optimistic friends, you feel it? It’s either unusually exciting or extremely awkward for you right now. Do something around the house off the beaten track. Paint a wall hyper-orange or buy a plasma ball for the bedroom. Make it the old Taurus you, but in a new way! With this Venus energy, analyze new investment strategies, diligence will work in your favor in the long run. If someone tries to give you a bunch of bullshit right now, let them bounce off you and launch a charge of your truth in their direction. You do you.
Gemini: May 21-June 20
You’re actually very good at handling contradictions, so you should be good enough to handle the month ahead. Does the proverbial “cat has your tongue” resonate? Unlikely, even when it should! You can do not be at a loss for words, but you may find your words and thoughts more intricate than usual. Take a triple booster dose of Zen to loosen up and adopt a slower pace. As the third week of January enters, take off your mask and go oral. Backstage love obsessions may mean more to them than to you. Ask questions and be sure to register.
Cancer: June 21-July 22
Crabs, did you know that ‘crab’ and ‘crib’ are etymologically linked? Yes, we can get grumpy and cry like babies. You can be cynical and sentimental at the same time. We’re all about ‘nostalgia’ and personal history, but sometimes all it takes is getting rid of old baggage. Maybe you need a social confidence booster right now, but you don’t want to leave the house; so have a dazzling after-holiday party at home. People will always crave connection. The freedom of the past will actually bring you more peace than you think. You will feel the Cancer full moon on the 17th, but don’t be too wild; the tattooed names of party partners are difficult to eliminate.
Leo: July 23-August. 22
With much farewell, fanfare and accolades, enter Leos. Have you been patiently waiting for some stage time? ! Well, now is the perfect time to take back all the limelight you may have lent to other loving Lions! But purring loudly gets the best attention; not jumping on people with your claws and scratching furniture, no matter how playful you think you are. By the end of the month, you should be ready to walk away and roar with more authority. Shine on Leos, shine!
Virgo: August 23-Sept. 21
Earthly Virgos, have you been busier than usual, making your lists and checking them twice, or even three times? If they haven’t been kind, the weeks ahead are generally good for you as the sun shines and supports your sign’s most grounded traits. Rather than the more usual, “Why oh why?” you should be more sure, “Why-di-not-?” You Virgos know how to use Venus energy well. If you’re a more conservative Virgo, do something impulsively. If you’re a more liberal member of the sign, take it up a notch for, dare I say, ‘radical’. When you do, there may even be a doorway that opens to something totally unexpected in the larger pattern of Aquarius Sun change.
Libra: Sept. 22-Oct. 23
Decisions, decisions the bane of Libra’s existence. Oh, why do you have to decide anything? You may think your social life is too legitimate to have to engage—to anyone or anything. Remember that if you have requested too many extensions or cause delays, the invoice is always due at some point; it even applies to love. You will need to start paying part of the interest now. Use the rest of December to come up with a real plan, with real goals and real deadlines. Luckily, you’re an Air child, and you can change things quickly when you’re in a hurry. Make some resolutions, and with a balanced will, you can keep them.
Scorpio: Oct. 24-Nov. 21
You may be a little less notoriously Scorpionic and a little more ironic over the next few weeks. Like a cat meowing at the screen door; Do you want inside or outside? Since you probably already have someone holding the door open for you, either way, things will line up nicely for you in an attractive way. On New Year’s Day, you might want to make it a 3-4 day event. Around the sign change in Aquarius and the end of the month, you might want to find some additional fun private reasons to play indoor chat. Don’t forget to close the door behind you. In your particular case, a “good bedfellow” could also be an easy business partner.
Sagittarius: Nov.-Dec. 22 21
Your noble quest, dear Sagittarians, is simple, don’t get distracted! The watchword right now for you is ‘opportunity’; of which you should have plenty. If your mind’s been on fire lately (and it probably is), January right after the holidays are over is a good time to anchor that mental fire into something substantial. To show creativity! Communicate, broadcast, educate, illustrate, cultivate do not hesitate. You may be feeling very generous, but now is not a good time to spend recklessly. There really is no need for luxury, even if you feel a certain tendency to excess, nature offers its beauties in abundance. Move your equine legs; run, work and as always—dance!
