The proposed new legislation could give more than a quarter of a million Americans a fresh round of stimulus checks.

Democratic lawmakers in Oregon have finally introduced a bill after months of crafting a plan.

Originally, Oregon lawmakers in the spring flirted with legalization that aimed to send up to $2,000 in stimulus payments to essential workers and give $1,200 to unemployed residents who returned to work .

It was then announced that it would be reduced to $1,000 in January.

Now the one-time payments have been reduced to $600 in a plan that now costs the state $180 million.

It comes after California residents had until February 15 to claim the state’s $1,100 stimulus check.
