MakerBot Announces Launch of New LEHVOSS Composites to Strengthen METHOD Materials Collection

MakerBot expands its offering of advanced engineering materials with the addition of three new LUVOCOM 3F composites from LEHVOSS Groupone of the main suppliers of thermoplastics for industrial companies.

The new materials expand the offering of the MakerBot METHOD 3D printing platform and bring the number of available materials to 30, giving customers a wider choice of industrial-grade materials to explore and use.

LUVOCOM 3F materials are designed for use in 3D printing and industrial applications and have similar properties to their compounded versions that are used for injection molding.

The three new materials that have been added are LUVOCOM 3F PA 9825 NT, LUVOCOM 3F PA CF 9891 BK and LUVOCOM 3F PET CF 9780 BK. LUVOCOM 3F PA 9825 NT is a high temperature polyamide that boasts of a continuous service temperature of up to 100°C. It is also said to have similar strength properties to PA6, but with 50% less water absorption and a four times slower absorption rate, which helps to minimize printing issues and changes in the properties of the printed part. LUVOCOM 3F PAexcluding tax CF 9891 BK is a carbon fiber filled PAexcluding tax 9825 NT and is said to have even lower water absorption, good resistance to harsh chemicals like automotive fluids and continuous use up to 150°C while retaining 50% of its mechanical properties. LUVOCOM 3F PET CF 9780 BK, on ​​the other hand, is a carbon fiber filled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) material that has low warpage, a “superb” surface finish straight from the printer and offers high strength. and resistance to high temperatures up to 120°C. Its chemical resistance is also said to surpass that of PETG.

Each of these materials can be used with the experimental MakerBot LABS GEN 2 extruder on the METHOD and METHOD X 3D printers. Exploiting the LABS extruder turns METHOD into an open platform for printing qualified engineering materials from leading filament suppliers.

The added materials are specially optimized to create an easy-to-print experience for customers and to achieve “the next level of properties and quality”, with parts printed using these materials that are known to be strong, hard and exhibiting a surface of high quality. ideal finish for prototyping, jigs and fixtures and end use applications.
