IIn the event that you haven’t received a stimulus check in 2021, you will need to follow certain criteria to get a payment of $ 1,400 next year.
To get such a payment, U.S. citizens must be either a new dependent or the parent of a child born in 2021.
This $ 1,400 stimulus check is of course a big deal and we’ll explain everything you need to know below to determine if and how you can claim that check in 2022.
Why is there another check?
All of these new economic measures are part of the new American rescue plan, which did Payments of $ 1,400 available for individuals and their dependent children.
Another stimulus payment?
Most people have already received their payment in full, but those who had eligible children in 2021 can apply for the Recovery rebate credit on their next tax return.
the Economic impact payments, otherwise called dunning checks, were sent during the year 2021 and they are down payments from Recovery rebate credit.
If you haven’t received the full amount you expected by December 31, you can claim the rest of the money when you submit your taxes in 2022.
Since the 2021 Economic impact payments were calculated from a person’s 2020 or 2019 return, eligible dependents who became family members in 2021 will not have been included in the calculation or payment.
Will each state give these checks?
Each state will receive a federal budget to administer these funds, but it will be solely up to the individual state administration to decide how to spend these funds and what different benefits will be part of this plan.
Eligibility for recovery rebate credit
If you are eligible for Recovery rebate credit, you can declare the child on your 2021 income tax return, which will be completed in 2022.
Those who are entitled to additional payment via the American rescue plan will be able to make the credit arrive as part of their 2021 repayment.
To be eligible, dependents must be under 19 at the end of the year, unless they are a student or any age, but have a permanent disability. In addition, the dependent must be a child, brother, sister, foster child, half-brother, half-sister, half-brother or half-sister, or a descendant of one of them.
There are some income requirements which must be completed to receive the Recovery rebate credit payment, however, because taxpayers can receive the full amount if they have adjusted gross income of less than $ 75,000, or income of $ 150,000 and are married and jointly producing.
