AICTE and UGC will organize a crossword competition: check how to apply, eligibility


The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) are organizing a nationwide crossword competition for higher education students. This competition will take place between March and August of the current year. This year, the 2022 National Inter-College Crossword Competition (NICE-22) will be held in hybrid mode (offline-online).

This competition is organized with the aim of improving students’ skills in a fun and interesting way. Crosswords aim to improve logical reasoning, boost problem-solving attitude, instill a sense of quick decision-making among other cognitive skills in students. This activity will also help create a holistic development environment among the students.

How to register:

Step 3: Fill in all the necessary personal information and college/university ID card.

Step 4: Properly verify all the details and click submit.

Step 5: Save the page for future reference.

After registration is completed, your NICE-22 username and password will appear on your screen after successful registration and will be emailed to you.

Structure of the competition

The competition will feature a student/institutional round in online mode; five offline zone rounds for North, South, West, East and Northeast; and an offline national round in New Delhi. The first round will be open to all college and institute students to play individually and will consist of solving online crossword puzzles over four successive Sundays, starting April 3, 2022.

After the fourth round on Sunday April 24, 2022, the top two entrants from each institute will form the facility teams for the offline rounds. A practice round will take place on April 2, 2022 to familiarize participants with the contest format.

Rounds will consist of solving crossword clues which will be posted at 10:30 a.m. IST every Sunday under the head or the NICE-22 Android application. Contestants will be required to submit their solutions by 5 p.m. IST the same day, and the contestant with the fastest and all-correct solutions will receive 10,000 points.
