In an article recently published in The American Sun, in the form of money, the women of New York receive help. Each month, a jury of experts chooses 100 pregnant women with a baby less than a year old to take part. There are no conditions to participate in the guaranteed income scheme, and it is intended to continue indefinitely.
Since July, families have received up to $300 a month in federal child tax credits, which Congress has refused to renew. It is believed that the money will be used to buy necessities like formula or diapers, and even to pay for rent or daycare.
Results from the Bridge Project show that 60% of New York City preschoolers live below the 200% poverty line. Families from Washington Heights, Harlem, and Inwood, New York, made up the majority of the sample population. Over the next three years, 50 moms will receive $500 per two-week period.

The Bridge Project is the city’s first initiative that offers a fixed amount of money to participants. New York-based private family organization, the Monarch Foundation, committed $16 million in funding for the project in June 2021.
The idea is to provide monthly allowances to low-income New York mothers throughout the first 1,000 days of their child’s life. The Bridge Project works with local organizations to help families in need. He also collaborates with the Center for Guaranteed Income Research (CGIR) at the University of Pennsylvania.
At the beginning of 2022, the next stage of the Bridge project will be launched. It will begin selecting an additional 500 moms in April. First-time pregnant women will be invited to participate. As part of the program expansion, East Harlem, Central Bronx and South Bronx in New York will be included.
